The original 1982 Off-Broadway version!
Told in the musical style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo‐wop and rhythm and blues, a down‐and out skid row floral assistant who becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon “Audrey II” grows into an ill‐tempered, foul‐mouthed, R&B‐singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite, finally revealing itself to be an alien creature poised for global domination!
Little Shop is one of the longest‐running, award winning, Off‐Broadway shows of all time. It has also enjoyed acclaimed Broadway, national touring and international runs. This affectionate spoof of 1950s sci‐fi movies has become a household name, thanks to a highly successful film version (the musical’s ending is different!). Charming, tuneful and hilarious, with tongue firmly planted in cheek, Little Shop of Horrors never fails to entertain.

MARISSA CARMONA - Crystal
Marissa has been acting with LWA for over four years. Each experience has given her many fond memories. This is Marissa’s senior year at HCCA in Hillsboro. She enjoys literary analysis, all things history, songwriting, storytelling, cooking for her family, and of course, acting. Her family has been nothing but supportive in all of these pursuits and wouldn’t trade them for the world.
CAROL MORRIS - Chiffon
Carol is excited to be performing in her first musical. Previous appearances with the theater include FARCE OF HABIT, THE HALLELUJAH GIRLS, THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER, A CHRISTMAS CAROL, and FARCE OF NATURE. In addition to performing on stage, Carol has also volunteered backstage, worked in the booth, and served as an assistant director. She would like to thank her husband, Mark, for his unwavering support and encouragement, as well as for his many contributions to Lake Whitney Arts.
STACEY GREENAWALT - Ronnette, Director
Stacey can still recite the soliloquies from her very first role, in a 1988 abridged production of Romeo and Juliet. Since then she has been playwright, actor, director, costumer, prop designer, scenic painter, and set designer, and has been nominated for several DFW theatre awards. Favorite roles include Lotty Wilton in ENCHANTED APRIL, Miss Hannigan in ANNIE, both Yente and Fruma-Sarah in two different productions of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, and Christopher Wren in THE MOUSETRAP.
VAUGHN HARDMAN - Orin Scrivello, D.D.S.
Vaughn embarks on his third year with Lake Whitney Arts, appearing last season in THE MOUSETRAP, THE HALLELUJAH GIRLS, FARCE OF HABIT, and A CHRISTMAS CORAL. He also directed LWA’s recent production of THE OLD FAITH, HOPE, AND CHARITY. Vaughn loves volunteering at LWA and staying active in the community. He sends heartfelt thanks to his loving wife for her unwavering support.

In Waco, he played Sir Andrew Aguecheek in Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT and co-directed/produced several Greek and Roman dramas. He is grateful for the opportunity to play (at least) two characters in LITTLE SHOP.

LYDIA ZIMMERMAN - Skid Row Bum
Lydia is a mom to four, a grandmother to three and a dog mom to two silly pups. She is a semi-retired home maker who mostly spends her days making sourdough and spending time with the grand babies. LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is her first play experience, but she has found a new passion for and hobby in local theater and hopes to be back for more.
MICHAEL LAIN - Light Tech
Michael has yet submitted a current photo or bio
B.D. (HOSS) SMITH - Mushnik
This will be Hoss's first show with Lake Whitney Arts Association. A veteran character actor, and founding member of The Carnegie Players, Theatre Off the Square, and Azle Popcorn Players. We're excited to have Hoss join our troupe. Musical comedy is one of his favorite forms of theatre.
WILL ZIMMERMAN - The Plant (Audrey II)

When he isn't moon-lighting as a man-eating plant, William is a passionate and rather intense individual. His first play production was BROTHERS, and was performed here at Lake Whitney Arts. LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is his second play production, and he can barely contain his excitement. When he is not devouring his fellow actors onstage, he's a bit of a writer, something of a reader, and too much of a thinker. He adores his family, his friends, his coworkers, and his God. FEED ME, SEYMOUR!
JESS MORRIS - Assistant Director
Jess is grateful for the opportunity to assist in directing this play. Recent stage performances include A CHRISTMAS CORAL, FARCE OF HABIT, and HALLELUJAH GIRLS. Last summer she was given the honor to create some choreography for the children's summer play THE NIFTY FIFTIES. She is excited and grateful to be contributing her talent to the choreography of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS.
HOWARD ASHMAN - Playwright, Lyricist
Best known as a pivotal creative mind behind the renaissance of Disney animation and his work on The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Beauty and The Beast (which is dedicated to, "Our friend, Howard Ashman, who gave a Mermaid her voice and a Beast his soul...") Ashman's first love was theater. Ashman was a founder of off off Broadway's renowned WPA Theater, where he conceived, wrote and directed God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, as well as the classic musical, Little Shop of Horrors (both music by Alan Menken). In 1986, he wrote and directed the Broadway musical Smile (music by Marvin Hamlisch). Lamented as a lost treasure of the 1980's theater scene, Smile remains popular on High School and College campuses throughout the country. Howard Ashman died in 1991 from complications of AIDS.
