A Christmas Coral 2025

A Christmas Coral by Stacey Greenawalt
Directed by Stacey Greenawalt
Audition dates: October 6 & 7, 2025
Performance dates: December 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 2025
Dana is already struggling to direct an adaptation of Dicken's A Christmas Carol, dealing with big personalities in big roles (really, how petty can two old farts be?). But when all the production material arrives with an egregious typo, she and her team decide to transform the show into an undersea spectacle.
FLEXIBLE CASTING!! This show will be tailored to those who audition! Schedule conflicts will be the primary consideration in casting. The working character list is below, but is subject to change based on who is cast!
REHEARSALS: IDEALLY, we will rehearse Mon/Tues/Thurs at 6:30pm, and Saturday at 9:30am, with a very occasional Wednesday or Friday instead of Tuesday. Not everyone will be called to every rehearsal, BUT if you are called to a rehearsal, it is your obligation to be there unless it was on your conflict sheet. Everyone cast will be called to the first rehearsal will be 9:30am Saturday, October 11th.
WORKING CHARACTER LIST
DANA - (30-50ish) Director of the Dickens adaptation of A Christmas Carol. This is Dana's directorial debut and she really wants to create a 'spectacular' show. Easy-going but under a fair bit of stress.
ALEX - (20-50ish) Assistant Director and Costumer. Male or female. A good friend to Dana.
JESSE - (20-50ish) Prop designer. Male or female. Somewhat high-strung and apologetic.
DREW - (20-60ish) Music director trying to adapt the songs. Male or female. Piano ability a plus.
MILES FISHER - Aged Elvis impersonator (60-ish) who probably has one foot in the grave himself. A little daffy, a little diva (he was a background casino Elvis extra in '3000 Miles To Graceland' and jokes that the movie was named for him), but overall very sweet and well-liked. As with all Elvis impersonators, The King is part of who he IS. He plays Jacob Marley/Marlin. Must be charismatic and fairly limber (signature hip swivels!)
CLIFF (or CLARE) CLINKSCALES - Aged radio host (60-ish) had a 1-hour finance-themed program for several years in the early 2000s on the local community station. S/He is a retired CPA who likes to remind people how wealthy s/he is, and whose ego is almost as big as their purported bank account. S/He plays Scrooge.
BENNY - (30-50ish) Cliff's Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Chicago accent. Male or gritty female.
HARPER - Kid actor, male or female. Plays a Cratchitt child
ROBIN - Kid actor, male or female.
BAILEY - Kid actor, male or female. Plays a Cratchitt child
TAYLOR - Kid actor, male or female.
QUINN - Kid actor, male or female. Plays Tiny Tim
JAMIE - Young adult actor, male or female.
DEVIN - Young adult actor, male or female.
RORY - Kid actor, male or female. Plays a Cratchitt child

ADRIAN - Adult actor, male or female
KRIS - Adult actor, male or female
ENSEMBLE ACTORS
How auditions work:
We skip straight to what other theatres do as callbacks. No appointment is necessary. Come to either group audition time and plan to read snippets from the script with other actors. Generally, it's good to audition for any/all roles in a play.
Before you audition
- Gather a list of ALL schedule conflicts between the audition date and final performance date. This is important. The director will cast the show and create a rehearsal schedule based on provided conflicts. If you (or your child) are cast, it is your obligation to adhere to the rehearsal schedule once it is set.
- If you have never auditioned with us, and/or if you have a lot of theatre credits, we encourage you to bring a photo headshot and/or theatre résumé with you to auditions. We've put together a basic theatre résumé template in Google Docs that you can copy and use as a guide. This is a generic guide only. A résumé is optional for most directors and does not have to look like this!
Rehearsal Information
- Specific rehearsal schedules will depend on the people cast, as well as other things that are happening at the theatre.
- IN GENERAL, we try to rehearse three or four weeknights (often Mon, Tues, & Thurs with occasional Wed or Fri), 6:30-8:30-ish, and Saturday mornings 9:30-noon-ish. But again, there are multiple factors that will affect your rehearsal schedule if cast.
- Actors are only called to rehearsal when their specific parts are being rehearsed, and directors do their best to work with reasonable schedule conflicts.
- Information about the first read-through will be given at auditions.
- If cast, you will receive a rehearsal schedule at (or sometimes before) the first read-through.
- If you (or your child) are called to rehearsal, the director is counting on your presence unless it was already on your conflict sheet.
