OPEN TO ALL KIDS AGED 8 to 17! INCLUDES CAMP TEE!
This is a theatre camp, not a show camp. We will be using the Trials of Alice script and music in classes, but it is a separate entity from our summer production of The Trials of Alice in Wonderland. We will still have regularly scheduled evening rehearsals for the show itself for those who audition for and are cast in The Trials of Alice in Wonderland. Auditions for The Trials of Alice in Wonderland will be held Monday and Tuesday, June 8 & 9, at 6:30pm at the theatre.
WHAT THE WEEK WILL LOOK LIKE
- Each morning session of camp (10:00-11:30) will include Music and Movement.
- During lunch (11:30-12:00) we'll brainstorm costume and set design ideas in small groups.
- Afternoons (12-1:45ish) will include age-appropriate classes such as safe stage combat, special effects makeup, set construction, and costume construction.
- We'll end each day with improv games.
PARENT INFORMATION
Communication
- E-mails and phone numbers will not be distributed to anyone except camp staff, and LWA’s leadership only if necessary. LWA’s primary means of communicating with parents is through email. All parents should submit a regularly-checked email address.
Student Behavior Guidelines
- Respect LWA property and space.
- Campers are not to go backstage for any reason except as directly instructed by staff.
- When given instructions by instructors and student leadership, listen carefully and respond with obedience and respect.
- No inappropriate physical contact will be tolerated. When in question, choose to keep your hands and feet to yourself. PDA is considered inappropriate physical contact.
- Wear modest clothing that allows movement. Leggings or shorts should be worn under skirts.
- Please bring a reusable water bottle pre-filled with water. We do not have a drinking fountain.
- No chewing gum inside the theatre.
- Treat all those around you, adults and children, only in ways that you would want to be treated.
Parent Guidelines
- Students should arrive on time, but no earlier than 15 minutes before class time.
- Please notify staff if someone other than a parent will be picking up the student from camp.
- Please pick students up promptly at the end of class time.
Policies and Procedures
- Registration fees will not be adjusted for missed days.
- Fees are due at registration, and no later than the first camp session.
- Fees cannot be refunded.
- Arrive on time, but no earlier than 15 minutes before. (It bears repeating!)
- All adults will be checked against The National Sex Offender Public Website (nsopw.gov) and The Texas Public Sex Offender Website (publicsite.dps.texas.gov/SexOffenderRegistry).
- Background checks are performed on all directors/staff who work with the children.
Lunch
- Students are encouraged to bring a sack lunch each day. We will have snacks and emergency lunches available, but there will be no menu choices aside from take it or leave it.
Inclement Weather
- Inclement weather probably will not be an issue, but we will notify you by email, and possibly text, if a camp day has to be canceled for any reason.
*We reserve the right to make exceptions (on a case-by-case basis) for younger kids who have been in area shows before. Please contact us BEFORE registering.
